In this particular case, the Scanning and Analysis components of the model are presented for you. However, you may conduct additional research to further understand the problem. 1. **What possible** **responses** **might you develop for dealing with the problem (consider legislative responses as well as those related to law enforcement and public information)?** 2. **What** **assessment** **strategies would you devise for measuring whether or not your responses have been effective?** Question #1 deals with the _Response_, which requires innovative suggestions that include **legislative changes, police initiatives and community (public) engagement**. To strengthen your suggestions, examine research on the problem to see what works, what does not, and what is promising.Question #2 focuses on the _Assessment_ component (hypothetical) which should incorporate elements of **research methods in terms of measuring effectiveness** – How will you know your strategies are working? How will you measure effectiveness? What outcomes will you consider in terms of effectiveness?
